"We set the route on the computer and the drone can depart from the nest to the site of the wild Fir trees in Baishanzu.” Recently, in the Qianjiangyuan-Baishanzu National Park in Lishui, Zhejiang Province, the staff of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company is remotely controlling the "Green Ark" nest to patrol and protect the forest, while simultaneously monitoring the growth of rare animals and plants such as the Fir trees along the line.

From the management station up the mountain, passing through the growth site of Baishanzu Fir at an altitude of 1755 meters, to the top of the mountain at an altitude of 1856.7 meters, and then returning from the primitive forest on the north slope, a round trip of about 5 kilometers, the forest rangers have to spend two hours. However, the drone for automatic patrolling in the "Green Ark" nest only takes 10 minutes, greatly improving the efficiency of patrolling.

Since 2022, State Grid Corporation of China has initiated the "Green Ark" project, with the main habitats of rare animals and plants as the objects of protection. It builds a new energy power supply system in the habitats and their surrounding areas to provide reliable, clean electricity and digital transformation tools for research and practice work related to biodiversity protection, reducing human interference in biological habitats, thus achieving effective protection of biodiversity.

In Qianjiangyuan-Baishanzu National Park in Lishui City, the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company has incorporated biodiversity protection into its lifecycle management of electrical power grid. It has taken the unique and ancient endemic plant of China - the Fir tree as the object of protection, built a light storage integrated microgrid and intelligent monitoring system, through the seamless switching between the large power grid and the microgrid, a 100% green energy supply can be realized throughout the core area. Under the care of "green energy", 83 seeds from Fir mother trees have been successfully cultivated, with more than 600 seedlings naturally sprouting under the mother tree, 82 acres of wild populations base has been built, 4,000 plants have been replanted, and more than 5,000 seedlings are still preserved in the nursery, with a survival rate of 92%. Meanwhile, through the application of digital means like drones, infrared cameras, and the enhancement of protective consciousness of the surrounding residents, more creatures are able to reproduce and thrive in the Baishanzu National Park, where over 5,000 species of higher plants, terrestrial vertebrates and fish have been recorded.

In the Xiangshan Jiushan Archipelago Nature Reserve, the "Green Ark" project is being piloted in the Chinese Crested Tern research base in the reserve to protect the "mythical bird". The State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power through a light-storage integrated power supply model, has built a zero-carbon microgrid to fully guarantee the island's surveillance, sound and image attraction, personnel life and other electricity needs. Meanwhile, it has constructed a "zero-carbon smart bird-watching house" integrated with building photovoltaics to meet the needs of digital and intelligent development of bird protection work.

It is understood that in addition to the above areas, the State Grid "Green Ark" project has landed in Zhoushan Wuzhishan Archipelago in Zhejiang, Xiemen Bay National Wetland Park in Taizhou, Zhejiang, Minjiang River Estuary Nature Reserve in Fuzhou, Fujian and Baitourn Lake Wetland in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Simultaneous construction of zero-carbon microgrid and Eco-zero carbon observation house, with a total public welfare fund of 2.28 million yuan, has assisted relevant protection organizations to successfully hatch nearly 200 endangered birds, participated in the design of protective schemes for 8 types of rare animals and 31 types of rare plants, and actively explored the harmonious coexistence of power grid with different biological species and different ecological systems.
